Arvidsjaur is a charming little village of 4,500 people in the middle of Swedish Lapland. Hosting world-class snowmobiling, driving on ice and cross country skiing possibilities. It also has a strong relation with the Sámi culture. The famous and historical Sámi town Lappstaden is the largest preserved Sámi church town in Sweden and well worth a visit. This short break is the perfect combination of enjoying adrenaline pumping winter activities, having time to relax and exploring the close surroundings on your own pace. When lucky you even have the chance to see the magical Northern Lights in the evening.
Arctic way of living
In this 5-day program you will learn more about the Arctic way of living. Starting the first day with an exciting dog sledding tour through the beautiful snow-covered nature of Swedish Lapland. This traditional way of transport is just the beginning of your adventurous stay. Followed by other highlights as snowmobiling and spectacular Ice Driving experience! To customize your holiday further to your wishes, this package allows you to tailor it with optional activities such as ice fishing or a full day snowmobile safari.
During these 5 days you will stay by the recently renovated Lapland Lodge. Housed in a refurbished late 1800s mansion, including free relaxation area with hot tub, sauna and fireplace. Located next to Arvidsjaur Church, and within a few minutes’ walk from shops, bars and restaurants. The lodge is one of the most popular accommodations in Arvidsjaur.





ITINERARY
Short Break Lapland, Arvidsjaur | 5 days / 4 nights

Arrival Day
Arrival according to your own flight schedule at Arvidsjaur airport. You will be welcomed by your local guide, followed by a short transfer through the white landscape to the charming village of Arvidsjaur. Check in at Lapland Lodge and depending on arrival time you can choose to relax, refresh, or explore the surroundings. We can recommend visiting the beautiful wooden church which is located right in front of your accommodation. The famous and historical Lappstaden is on short walking distance (approx. 5 mins) from your accommodation. This Sámi town is the largest preserved Sámi church town in Sweden and well worth a visit. In the evening, a 3- course dinner is served in the restaurant.
Day 2 – Dog sledding tour
In the morning you will be picked up for the transfer to the nearby Husky kennel. As soon as the enthusiastic Huskies notice you, they are all eager to go. Going on a dog sledding tour is a unique experience in many ways. The strength of the dogs and their capability to pull the sled at high speed in the snow-covered terrain, the crisp climate and stunning surroundings will give you a thrill never to be forgotten.
The tour will go through wild forests and over frozen lakes offering a great opportunity to see wildlife on the way. The experience takes around 3 hours and it is totally sure that you will leave the dogs with a lot of fantastic memories. By return at the Lapland Lodge your warm lunch is ready to be served. In the midday, no activities are planned.
During the evenings you can choose to join a Polar Night Snowmobile tour (2.5h) to enlarge your chances to see the Northern Lights. Price SEK 1990 p.p.
Day 3 – Snowmobiling and Ice Driving experience
Swedish Lapland is also called the last wilderness of Europe. Today you will get the opportunity to discover this by cruising through snow-covered forests and over its frozen lakes with a snowmobile. An expert guide will lead you through miles of winding trails where you will conquer the imposing winter landscape. After enjoying an outdoor lunch, you will change vehicles and switch caterpillars for wheels. Every car fan has dreamed of this, meter long drifts in a Porsche. Today this dream will come true on a professionally prepared ice circuit. First you will learn how to drift properly on ice and how to master the vehicle optimally. In a few hours you will learn to control the vehicle in the limit area up to the perfect drift. Unique fun and adrenaline in a breath-taking setting. At the same time, the ideal safety training for winter conditions at home.
Day 4- Free day
Today there are no activities planned. You can choose to spend the day on your own pace or choose from optional activities. If you prefer to take it easy and visit the town for some shopping you will find a large assortment of crafts, handmade knives, reindeer skins, Sami handicrafts, hats and mittens, tin and silver jewellery and souvenirs of course. You can also relax body and mind the accommodations sauna facilities.
For those of you who’d like to get some more insight about the typical northern lifestyle we would recommend you joining an ice fishing trip. Or, if you still did not get enough horsepower, enjoy a day trip in the great Reivo nature reserve by snowmobile
Day 5- Departure day
After daily new experiences enjoying Swedish Lapland it’s time to travel home. Depending on your flight schedule your transfer will be ready to bring you to the Airport. You can look back on an amazing five days visit to Arvidsjaur, Swedish Lapland.
