Kiruna – The northernmost city of Sweden
Located 150km north of Arctic Circle, Kiruna is Sweden’s northernmost city. It keeps Sweden’s highest mountain Kebnekaise and has the world’s largest underground iron-ore mine. It’s location inside the Auroral oval is not only perfect for Northern Lights viewing, it’s also one of the best bases for travelers wanting to explore rural Lapland. Kiruna is a part of Sápmi and has been home for many generations of Sámi people.

Arrival Day
Welcome to Swedish Lapland! On arrival to Kiruna Airport, you land 150km north from the Arctic Circle into the northernmost part of Sweden. A short transfer will bring you the family owned hotel Camp Ripan. Your accommodation for the next few days is surrounded by mountain nature and on close distance from Kiruna city center. Here you will stay in a cozy and private timber chalet. After a long journey from home, you may want to refresh yourself in the hotel’s rewarded Aurora Spa. When you are lucky, maybe in the evening the magical Northern lights appear in the sky, during the dark polar night!
Day 2 – Snowmobile & Northern Lights safari
After breakfast, your guide will meet you in the hotel lobby to start a 4-hour snowmobile adventure. You’ll share a snowmobile with a partner and take turns driving or riding as a passenger. Keep an eye out for wildlife like reindeer and moose along the way, and don’t miss the photo opportunities. Once the tour is over, warm up by a cozy fire in a traditional tipi tent, where a delicious lunch will be cooked over an open flame.
Tonight, get ready to chase the breathtaking northern lights. Your guide will take you on a car tour to the best viewing spots within a 125km radius of Kiruna. You’ll ride in a minivan to places as Abisko, Björkliden, Jukkasjärvi, or Gällivare to maximize your chances of witnessing the stunning phenomenon of the Aurora Borealis.
Day 3 – Dog Sledding & ICEHOTEL
Experience the best of Swedish Lapland today! Embark on a thrilling dogsledding adventure. Snuggle up on the sled as your guide expertly mushes the dogs through a winter wonderland of frozen lakes, and forests, covered in snow. Take a break along the route to savor a traditional Swedish fika by the campfire.
After your dogsledding tour, arrive at the world-famous ICEHOTEL. A hotel and an art exhibition with ever-changing art made out of ice and snow. Visit the ICEHOTEL Art Exhibition and marval at stunning sculptures and frozen ice rooms at your leisure. Enjoy a complimentary lunch and, afterwards, treat yourself to a refreshing drink in an ice-made glass at the famous ICEBAR. Back at Camp Ripan, you’re free to unwind at your own pace. Day 4 – Departure Day
As you wrap up your daily adventures, you’ll soon be departing from this breathtaking region of Swedish Lapland. Depending on your flight schedule, you might have some extra time to unwind or fit in another iconic experience in Kiruna. If your flight is early, it’s time to pack up and check out of your hotel room. We’ll arrange a convenient transfer to Kiruna Airport to ensure a smooth departure.
