Kiruna – The northernmost city of Sweden
Located 150km north of Arctic Circle, Kiruna is Sweden’s northernmost city. It keeps Sweden’s highest mountain Kebnekaise and has the world’s largest underground iron-ore mine. It’s location inside the Auroral oval is not only perfect for Northern Lights viewing, it’s also one of the best bases for travelers wanting to explore rural Lapland. Kiruna is a part of Sápmi and has been home for many generations of Sámi people.

ITINERARY
Short Break Lapland, Kiruna | 4 days / 3 nights

Arrival Day
Welcome to Swedish Lapland! On arrival to Kiruna Airport, you land 150km north from the Arctic Circle into the northernmost part of Sweden. A short transfer will bring you the family owned hotel Camp Ripan. Your accommodation for the next few days is surrounded by mountain nature and only a 10-minute walk from Kiruna city center. Here you will stay in a cozy and private timber chalet. After a long journey from home, you may want to refresh yourself in the hotel’s rewarded Aurora Spa. When you are lucky, maybe in the evening the magical Northern lights appear in the sky, during the dark polar night!
Day 2 – Snowmobile safari
After enjoying a rich Scandinavian breakfast buffet, your guide will meet you by the hotel lobby for joining an adventures snowmobile tour alongside the Torne river. From this river ice blocks are taken every winter to build the famous ICEHOTEL. Two people share one snowmobile and rotate position as a driver or buddy. After a safety briefing and operating instructions, you are ready to start this unique snowmobile safari far above the Arctic Circle. Throughout the tour you may encounter wild animals like reindeer and moose and a stop will be made to warm up around the campfire with hot beverages.
Day 3 – ICEHOTEL and Aurora Dog Sledding
Close to Kiruna you will create memories for life with a visit to the world famous ICEHOTEL. In the morning a private taxi transfer will take you to the village of Jukkasjärvi, the location of the word’s first ICEHOTEL. Be amazed by the surrounding, the fantastic sculptures, art exhibitions and the ice rooms in peace on your own. A lunch is included in your visit. Before heading back to Kiruna, you may check the souvenir shop. If you are interested in learning more about the indigenous Sámi culture and their reindeers. Dogsled evening tour
During the evening you go hunting for the magical Northern Lights by dog sled! By arriving by the Husky kennel, you can relax and take place on warm reindeer skins on a sled and enjoy the dark polar night. The team of friendly huskies will pull you through the sparkling winter wonderland. Immerse yourself in the dark wintry nights of Lapland and escape the city lights with the enthusiast huskies. Along the route a stop will be made to enjoy a hot drink and some home-made cakes by the campfire. Meanwhile, the guide will provide you with more information about the Northern Lights. An experience which will give you memories for a lifetime!
Day 4 – Departure Day
After daily enjoying new experiences it’s time to travel home. Depending on your flight schedule, maybe you have some time left to relax in the Northernmost part of Swedish Lapland. If you have an early flight, then it is time to get ready and check out of your hotel room. A transfer will be arranged for you to Kiruna Airport.
