You will join a thrilling snowmobile safari towards Swedish highest mountain Kebnekaise. Take part in an evening Northern Lights dog sled tour with a team of friendly Husky’s. Meet reindeer, learn more about the indigenous Sámi culture and visit the World famous ICEHOTEL.

Kiruna – The northernmost city of Sweden

Located 150km north of Arctic Circle, Kiruna is Sweden’s northernmost city. It keeps Sweden’s highest mountain Kebnekaise and has the world’s largest underground iron-ore mine. It’s location inside the Auroral oval is not only perfect for Northern Lights viewing, it’s also one of the best bases for travelers wanting to explore rural Lapland. Kiruna is a part of Sápmi and has been home for many generations of Sámi people.

Arrival Day

Welcome to Swedish Lapland! On arrival to Kiruna Airport, you land 150km north from the Arctic Circle into the northernmost part of Sweden. A short transfer will bring you the family owned hotel Camp Ripan. Your accommodation for the next few days is surrounded by mountain nature and only a 10-minute walk from Kiruna city center. Here you will stay in a cozy and private timber chalet. After a long journey from home, you may want to refresh yourself in the hotel’s rewarded Aurora Spa (optional). When you are lucky, maybe in the evening the magical Northern lights appear in the sky, during the dark polar night!

Day 2 – Snowmobile safari towards Kebnekaise 

After a good night sleep and enjoying your Scandinavian breakfast buffet, your guide will meet you in the hotel lobby to start your snowmobile adventure. With a comfortable minibus you will be transferred more inland to the mountain village of Nikkaluokta where the road ends. From here you will continue with snowmobile and drive up to the mountain lake Láddjujávri, from where you can have excellent views on Swedish highest mountain Kebnekaise. Here you will be surrounded with high steep mountains and you cannot avoid the feeling of how big and great the nature is. During one of the stops a lunch with local delicacies is being served and you can try out ice fishing if you like.

Day 3 – Icehotel,  Sámi culture and Northern Lights

Your local Sámi guide will meet you in the morning and together you will visit the world famous Icehotel in Jukkasjärvi (17km). Here you have time to experience the unique ice sculptures and ice rooms in peace on your own. The tour continues with a visit to the nearby Sámi church from 1607. The Old Homestay with its atmosphere and old timber houses gives an impression of the early settlers lifestyle in this arctic environment and the interaction with the Sámi people and their culture. The tour ends with a visit to a Sámi settlement. This is a unique place to learn more about the Sámi culture, get close to reindeers and taste typical Sámi food.

Dogsled evening tour
During the evening you go hunting for the magical Northern Lights by dog sled! After arriving by the Husky kennel, you can relax and take place on warm reindeer skins in a sled and enjoy the dark polar night. The team of friendly huskies will pull you through the sparkling winter wonderland. Immerse yourself in the dark wintry nights of Lapland and escape the city lights with the enthusiast huskies. Along the route a stop will be made to enjoy a hot drink and some home-made cakes by the campfire.

Day 4- Departure Day

After daily enjoying new experiences it’s time to travel home. Depending on your flight schedule, maybe you have some time left to relax in the Northernmost part of Swedish Lapland. If you have an early flight, then it is time to get ready and check out of your hotel room. A transfer will be arranged for you to Kiruna Airport.
