ITINERARY

Swedish Lapland Ski & Winter Holiday | 8 days / 7 nights

Arrival Day

Arrival at Luleå airport according to your flight schedule. You will be welcomed by our staff, who will assist you with picking up your rental car at the airport. Short drive (10km) to your accommodation and check in at your comfortable cabin at First Camp. When you are lucky, maybe in the evening the magical Northern lights appear at sky in the dark polar night.

Day 2 – Snowshoe walking

Today, after breakfast you will go together with an experienced guide on a snowshoe tour into the near by nature reserves of Luleå. Walking on snowshoes is an unique way to get close to nature. No experience is required and we supply all the gear you need for a safe and comfortable trip. During the tour your guide will tell you about the unique local nature, and hot beverages will be served during the tour. Return at your accommodation around 13:00. For the midday are no activities planned. The traditional wood stoked sauna is reserved for you, here you can relax body and mind and complete the Swedish way of life.

Day 3 – Dog Sledding tour

After a good night sleep, you will today experience one of the best activities possible in Swedish Lapland!  After a short drive you will arrive at the Husky kennel, where you will hear, meet and greet the eager Huskies. These dogs are intelligent, good-natured and born to run!  After the safety instructions, you can sit back and relax on the sled while the guide is standing behind you mushing the dogs. Warm winter overall will be provided before the start of the tour.  For the midday, no activities are planned so there is time to relax, choose from optional activities or prepare yourself for skiing for the next few days.

Day 4 – Kåbdalis Ski resort

After 3 days Luleå, you will leave the coast behind you and travel further inland towards the small village of Kåbdalis (140 km, approx. 1.5h drive). On the way you will pass the Storforsen nature reserve. One of the most impressive sites of the region and worth a visit. The Pite River is one of the four unharnessed National Rivers of Sweden, and the rapids are one of the biggest unrestricted water rapids in Europe. The river is stretching 400 kilometres from its glacial source to the sea. The nearby hotel Storforsen is a good lunch option before proceeding to Kåbdalis ski resort. Check in and time to hit the slopes!

Day 5 – Skiing

The chairlift takes you to the top of the mountain and the prepared slopes. On the left side of the lifts are red slopes with medial difficulty, to the right are easier ones with nice longer tracks. In the middle you find the black harder slopes and off-piste area. The children’s lift is free to use, and maybe you want to follow a ski lesson with an experienced guide. There are two restaurants to choose from just beneath the slope. For many, a day of skiing included rounding off in a nice way with music and a good hangout in the old tavern below the slopes.

Day 6 – Skiing & Snowmobiling

In Kåbdalis there is more to do than skiing and today you will explore the surroundings like a local on a snowmobile. Before the tour starts you meet your guide and get a briefing of the tour and safety instructions. Your guide will ensure that you are at a comfort level suited to your ability and introduce you to routes and trails that have been selected to challenge and excite you. No experience is required, and all gear needed for a safe and comfortable trip will be supplied.

Day 7 – Skiing, have you tried the off-piste?

There is an easier off-piste area for beginners next to the children’s hill. Or starting from the top, “Troll trail” is a narrow bumpy forest road from the top of the mountain that is very popular with children.  In the nearby village of Jokkmokk you find the Ájtte museum with souvenirs, handcrafted products and information about the indigenous Sami people. While driving to Jokkmokk you will pass the Arctic Circle!

Day 8 – Departure Day

Today your Swedish Lapland ski holiday will come to an end. After having new experiences daily it’s time to travel home wards. Collect your gear, check out and start driving to Luleå Airport. Return your rental car at the airport prior to your return flight. You can look back on an amazing 8 days visit to Swedish Lapland!
