How to photograph the Northern Lights?
- Put a camera in a waterproof bag, then into the camera bag to avoid condensation during a short ride to a new spot
- Bring an extra battery as they do not cope well with the cold
- A head torch is highly recommended to work manually with the camera
- Use a tripod to work with long exposure times
- Set focus to ‘infinity’ to capture the stars
- Use a wide-angle lens with a fast aperture, less than 4.0 if possible
- Adjust high ISO speed between 800 and 1600
