Top 3 most popular winter activities 2017 in Luleå

Luleå enjoys a long snow season with snow beginning around December and lasting until April, making it a perfect place for winter activities. The three most requested activities in 2017.  Phote credits: Fredrik Broman – Isdimma

1. Dog sledding

By far the most requested activity for this year and one of the most iconic ways to enjoy the nature of Swedish Lapland in wintertime. Going on a dog sledding tour through Swedish Lapland is an unique experience in many ways. The strength of the dogs and their capability to pull the sled at high speed in the snow covered terrain, the crisp climate and stunning surroundings will give you a thrill never to be  forgotten. If you are lucky you might even spot reindeer or a moose on your trip. You can choose between different tours  from one our to full day or chasing the northern lights in the evening!

2. Snowmobiling

Riding on a snowmobile is a great way to experience the outdoors of Swedish Lapland and they can be ridden by one or two people at a time. This is a fun activity and one of the favourite activities to do in Swedish Lapland. It’s not only a fast and efficient way to get from one place to another but it also allows you to go fast and take in the gorgeous scenery along the way.

3. Snowshoe walking

If skiing or snowboarding is a little fast paced for you, or you just want to try something a bit different, then maybe you should give snowshoeing a go. Our new and modern snowshoes are very light weight and easy to use. This makes walking through snow-covered terrain effortless, opening up huge possibilities for exploring the winter wilderness of Swedish Lapland. If you can walk you can snowshoe – it’s that easy!

Hondenslede tocht in Zweeds Lapland

Heeft u ooit het geluid gehoord van Husky honden die gretig klaar staan om te rennen?

Dit indrukwekkende geluid, is het eerste wat je hoort zodra je het terrein op loopt waar de husky’s staan te wachten. Zodra ze je door hebben worden ze enthousiast en verlangen ze erna om te gaan rennen.  Een hondenslede tocht in Zweeds Lapland is een unieke ervaring. De kracht van de honden, de capaciteit om de slee op hoge snelheid door variërend terrein te trekken en de adembenemende omgeving maakt het tot een ervaring die u niet snel zult vergeten! In de omgeving van Luleå zijn verschillende hondenslee bedrijven waar wij mee samen werken, sommige klein andere groot. Wilt  u meer informatie? Nieuwe activiteiten

Winter 2017/18

Aankomend winterseizoen kan je uit veel nieuwe activiteiten kiezen bij Luleå Travel. Ervaar de kick van rijden op een sneeuwscooter of een hondenslede tocht of geniet van de rust van een wit winterlandschap tijdens een sneeuwschoenwandeling. Nieuw dit seizoen is ook de mogelijkheid om een Sami familie te ontmoeten in hun winterkamp dicht bij de Poolcirkel. Een paar uur voor al je zintuigen, luister naar het knisperende vuur terwijl je geniet van traditioneel Sami eten. Een authentieke ontmoeting rondom het vuur in de tipi tent, waar je meer te weten komt over de Sami cultuur en geschiedenis. Een unieke ervaring!

Luleå’s Ijsbaan & Ijswegen

CNN TRAVEL bucket list
In de top 50 van deze lijst van natuurlijke wonderen in de wereld om te bezoeken, staan Luleå’s ijsbaan en ijswegen op de 45ste plek!

Dit is niet alleen een locatie op de wereld waar de zee dichtvriest, maar de stad –omring met water– maakt van de ijsvloer een welkome uitbreiding van het wegennet in hartje winter. Van December tot Maart, wordt er geschaatst, gesleed, met sneeuwscooters gereden en gewandeld over de baai, terwijl sommige wegen –over de bevroren zee — alleen toegankelijk zijn in de winter.

Schaatsen Luleå

Get a taste of the Arctic way of life and experience Ice-Skating in Swedish Lapland! Between 22 and 25th of February 2018, the city of Luleå  will be home for the second edition of the fantastic ice skating event ‘Schaatsen Luleå’. Hi everybody,

Welcome on the website of Luleå Travel!  We are a brand new travel agency in Luleå, an exciting city at the coast of Swedish Lapland. Here we live between the islands from the Archipelago on the one side and endless forests and mountains on the other side. Skiing, dog sledding or ice-skating in the winter months and hiking, kayaking and sailing in the summer months. Swedish Lapland has it all!  With Luleå Travel we were part of the organisation of the international ice skating event ‘Schaatsen Luleå’ attracting local participants and coordinating all winter activities.

We are true nature lovers and travelled intensively over the word. Beside private travels we worked for many years with tourism in the Arctic regions.

Swedish Lapland has so much to offer and we like to share our love of adventure with you. Our insider’s knowledge and key contacts in each destination allow us to offer unique experiences.
