Nature’s Best approved!

Nature’s Best approved!

We gladly like to inform you that recently Luleå Travel has received the green eco-label Nature’s Best. With not many approved companies in Sweden, this is absolutely something we are very proud about! Our Nature’s Best certification guarantees that we provide you with high-quality experiences. Combined with an active responsibility for protecting nature, more eco-friendly travel and careful consideration of the cultural values and people at the destination.

What is Nature’s Best?

Nature’s Best is Sweden’s only sustainability label for nature-based experiences. The labeling system labels the activities of ecotourism entrepreneurs. Nature’s Best functions both as a systematic tool for nature and cultural tourism companies.  Sustainable business development and a quality label that makes sustainable experiences visible to conscious travelers.

The organization who stands behind Nature’s Best is the Swedish Nature & Ecotourism Association (Naturturismföretagen). More information regarding quality labeling of experiences in Swedish nature you can find on the website from Nature’s Best

Nature’s Best six basic principles

1. Respect the limitations of the destination – minimize the negative impacts on local nature and culture.
2. Support the local economy.
3. Make all the operator’s activities environmentally sustainable.
4. Contribute actively to nature and cultural conversation.
5. Promote knowledge and respect and the joy of discovery.
6. Quality and safety all the way.

Choose smart

As our guest, you too can contribute to support the environment and sensitive nature. By for example using the train instead of flights between Stockholm and Luleå to reduce CO2 emissions.  Select hotels who step out in the field of environmental responsibility and sustainable operation within the tourism industry. Or choose quality approved activities which have the lowest environmental impact during your stay.

Please contact us if you would like to know more about our sustainability work.

How we handle COVID-19

Updated: 3 December.

Luleå Travel is committed to make sure that you as a guest are protected while being outdoors with our professional guides. Swedish Lapland is already naturally isolated from the rest of the planet, being sparsely populated and having its natural openness. About a quarter of a million people, 2.6 per cent of Sweden’s population live here, resulting in a density of approx 3 persons/km2. But still we believe that it is critical that we do everything in our power to maintain a healthy and sanitary environment.

Here are a few practices that we are following to make sure that you can focus on your free time; chasing the Northern Lights, Snowshoe walking, Ice Fishing or any of the other activities you are planning to do with us. Making memories that will last a lifetime with our team of professional guides.

Keep it clean

We will be sanitising all of our equipment after each tour to ensure that the gear we provide you is clean and ready for action. Our vehicles used for transfers will be regular sanitised and thoroughly cleaned. High-frequency touch points such as door handles, armrests, window buttons and seat belts will be cleaned between each journey.

Personal protection equipment

Personal protection equipment will be available upon request during our tours and transfers. This includes hand sanitiser, gloves and face masks. All of these items will be available upon request throughout the time that you are with us.

Reduced volume of guests

Luleå Travel has always worked with small groups. We believe in quality before quantity, ensuring that each of the guests enjoys the activity in the best kind of way. This focus on quality naturally means that you will never be out in nature with large crowds when booking an activity with us.

We will continue working with small groups and even reduce the number of guests if a transfer is necessary. For your and our safety facemasks are mandatory during our transfers for everybody older than 12 years.

Special payment term

Maximising your experience has always been our core value, even before you travel! Due to the special situation right now, Luleå Travel extends a flexibility on deposit payments for all our travel packages. You can now book the package without paying a non refundable deposit. An invoice will be sent to you 45 days prior to arrival, allow you to better observe the travel situation with the least financial concern. Meanwhile we know you are planning to come so that we can arrange your holiday in the best possible way (instead of short notice…). If there is some activity or accommodation bookings that must require a deposit earlier due to availability, we will communicate with you and always have your wish prioritised!

Special 14 days cancellation terms

For some of our travel packages we can apply our special COVID-19 cancellation terms. Where a full refund (minus 5% administration costs) will be provided for cancellations up to 14 days before the arrival date. Valid COVID-19 issues are:
1. Outgoing or incoming borders closing and/or announcement of formal government advice recommending against travel to Sweden due to COVID-19 risk.

Swedish Public Health Agency

We believe that these simple measures together with following the instructions and recommendations from the Swedish Public Health Agency will give you peace of mind when you visit Luleå in Swedish Lapland. For general information regarding travelling to Sweden during the COVID-19 pandemic, we recommend to visit the Emergency Situation Website from the Swedish Authorities. Here you can find summarised information about restrictions and regulations you need to be aware of if you are planning a stay in Sweden.

Please feel free to reach out to us with any questions you may have and we will be more than happy to discuss what we are doing to keep you safe.

Auto vakanties en rondreizen, Zweden, Noorwegen en Finland

We are updating our Self Drive holidays. Beside the basic routes we already had in Swedish Lapland, we are expanding to our neighbouring countries as Norway and Finland. In the newest self drive holiday ‘Lofoten, Senja and North Sweden‘  we combine the best of 2 countries. Resulting in a well planned route, detailed travel guide and handpicked accommodations on the end of each day.

In less then 2 weeks you will experience both Sámi and Viking culture. Drive through the Swedish Alpines region, national parks and breathtaking Norwegian fjords. The route guides you along the ancient Silver Road from Sweden to Norway over the mountains, crossing the Vestfjord by ferry to the Lofoten and includes Senja Island.

Senja island
This 13 days package includes the hidden gem Senja Island, the second largest island of Norway. Senja isn’t really on the tourist trail; you won’t run into any cruise ships or many coach tour groups. This is still a part of Norway that feels a bit undiscovered by mass tourism. Along the way, you’ll find a lot stunning viewpoints and picnic spots to wild beaches and picturesque fishing villages.

In 13 days you will explore the most memorable scenery and landscapes of Lofoten, Senja and Swedish Lapland. By the end of the journey, you will be rejuvenated by your wilderness involvement like berry picking, short hikes, fishing, kayaking and picnics in either the never-set Midnight Sun or golden Autumn forest. We are ready to welcome you, are you ready? Photo credit: Roger Ellingsen.
