Travel Agent / Social Media Specialist

This position focus on sales aimed toward the International market. You will follow each request from first contact until the guests arrive on their destination. In addition, you will be responsible for creating and publishing content on all our social media platforms, grow an audience, build brand awareness and ultimately boosts sales. We are looking for someone highly structured with a background in the travel industry who love the outdoors.

In a perfect world you are well-organised, highly structured, enjoy tracking our daily activities and are a star in content writing. You have a background in sales, are confident in e-marketing and love the outdoors. Interacting with guests and potential guests via email, social media, and on arrival/departure is natural for you and goes with ease.

Qualifications:
1. Excellent social skills
2. A great interest in nature
3. Previous experience of working in the travel industry
4. Content writing goes with ease
5. Passionate about customer service
6. Competency in using social media (Facebook, Instagram, other)
7. Experienced with e-marketing (Google, Facebook)

Nature guide

Work in Swedish Lapland –  Luleå Travel is now looking for a Nature Guides to strengthen our team from November to April 2023/24. The position is part-time, based upon demand and on irregular basis. Therefore we see that you live in the area of Luleå. Your main tasks will be:

1. Guide and entertain our guests by car while seeking the best vantage spot for the Northern Lights.
2. Guide our guests by snowshoes, foot or fatbike among ancient forests, while presenting information about its natural history.
3. Advise our guests in nature photography, especially during the Northern Light Tours.
4.  Transport, entertain and guide our guests between their accommodation and booked activity

Qualifications:

  1.  Loves the outdoors and is a natural storyteller.
  2. Has an excellent understanding of Swedish Lapland’s natural history and a good knowledge about the phenomena Northern Light.
  3. Has a minimum of two years’ experience in nature tourism, preferable in Swedish Lapland.
  4. Holds a class B driving licence and is comfortable with driving in the dark.
  5. Fluent in English + another language.
  6. Swedish background &/or excellent local knowledge.
  7.  Knows how to boil coffee and create a cosy atmosphere.

Sami Culture Winter Holiday

For this winter season we have added another NEW package to our winter holiday assortment: Sami Culture Winter Holiday. This 6-day package features the Arctic winter and indigenous Sami culture in Jokkmokk. It also offers flexibility to explore Swedish Lapland on your own, benefiting from the included rental car. Visit the world famous Icehotel. Or go skiing in the nearby ski resort Dundret.

During this winter holiday you can learn more about the indigenous Sami culture in Jokkmokk. Meet and feed reindeers, listen to stories during a visit by a Sami family and enjoy the beauty of winter during a unique dog sledding tour with Husky’s. With minimal light pollution in Jokkmokk, if lucky, you may even see the magical Northern Lights in the evenings!

Jokkmokk

Located about 5km north of the Arctic Circle, Jokkmokk is an important cultural hub for the region’s indigenous Sami population. The surroundings consist of vast forestland, marshland and mountains with national parks of Sarek and Padjelanta. This town with its certain mythical charm, has long been a significant trading area. It is the best places in Lapland to stock up on authentic Sámi art and handicraft products. The Ájtte Museum, one of Sweden’s best museums, is dedicated to showcase the viable Sámi culture.

With its only 5000 inhabitants, Jokkmokk is a yet unfamiliar destination for many people. However, the town annually hosts one of Swedish oldest markets, dating back to the middle ages, attracting both traders from across Sapmi region as well as international tourists to Jokkmokk.

Accommodation

You will stay in a typical Swedish wooden cabin on a small campsite near the lake “Stor Skabram”. The cabin is equipped with a bathroom with toilet & shower, TV, free wifi, a sofa bed, refrigerator, kitchen pantry with an electric stove and cutlery, pots and pans. Two bedrooms with bunk beds, one room with the lower bed 120x200cm, the upper bed 90x200cm; the other room with bunk bed 90x200cm.

The Arctic Route

Many people have revealed if they do not drive, or prefer not to drive , it is challenging to explore the beautiful northern part of Scandinavia during winter.
