Welcome to Kiruna – Gateway to the Arctic
Arrive 200 km above the Arctic Circle in Sweden’s northernmost town. Spend 4 nights at Camp Ripan, a family-run hotel with cozy private chalets near Kiruna’s center. Enjoy delicious, Sami-inspired cuisine made with local, organic ingredients, and unwind at the award-winning Aurora Spa. With luck, you might spot the Northern Lights dancing across the polar night sky.
Day 2 – Chase the Northern Lights by Dog sled
Today is left open for exploration and personal adventure. Choose from a range of optional activities, including snowmobiling, snowshoeing, or a deep dive into the rich traditions of the indigenous Sámi people. We can recommend a visit the world famous Icehotel. Discover the hotel, featuring breathtaking sculptures and cold rooms hand-crafted by international artists. Enjoy a refreshing drink at the popular icebar.
In the evening you will join an iconic dog sledding tour to hunt for the magical Northern Lights. Immerse yourself in the dark wintery nights filled with stars and escape the city lights with a team of enthusiastic Huskies.
Day 3 – Aurora Chase by Car: Maximize Your Northern Lights Experience
Choose from a variety of activities during daytime to explore the Kiruna region. In the evening, continue your Northern Lights adventure with a guided car tour. Your local expert will drive you to the best aurora viewing spots around Kiruna, carefully selected based on real-time weather and solar activity, to give you the best possible chance of seeing the mesmerizing Northern Lights.
Day 4 – Kiruna Your Wy – Explore, Relax, or Adventure
After a late night chasing the Northern Lights by car, enjoy a slow restful morning, or if you’re up early, take advantage to explore the stunning Kiruna region your way. Check out the city transformation. Kiruna’s new city center is taking shape just 3 km east of the original. Visit the striking new city hall, and explore the Norrbotten County Art Museum. Local buses connect the old and new centers for easy access.
In the evening, unwind at your hotel or head out for one last aurora adventure by joining a guided Aurora Safari, another chance to witness the magic of the Northern Lights before your journey ends.
Day 5 – Departure Day
As you wrap up your daily adventures, you’ll soon be departing from this enchanting winter wonderland. Depending on your flight schedule, you may fit in another memorable day in Kiruna. If you have an early flight, it’s time to check out of your hotel room. A transfer will bring you to Kiruna Airport.
