Icebreaker tours Luleå – ARCTIC EXPLORER icebreaker

Imagine white frozen sea which never storms. Sea waters from the Bothnian Bay are covered with solid ice, endless dramatic white as far as an eye can catch. Listen to the sound of crackling ice, crashed ice blocks rise from the icebreaker hull letting and dark water splashing out. In the beginning of winter ice is not more than 20-30 cm thick, but by April it could be more then one meter.

Join the icebreaker daily work

Arctic Explorer is keeping daily routine from December to early April.  Join the Icebreaker daily work for 2.5 hours and feel as part of the crew, the ice, and the raw machinery that powers through it.

Walk on the frozen sea and swim in the icy water

During this 2.5 hour cruise you will be shown all the way down to the engine rooms and all way up to Captain’s bridge. You can relax the cozy saloon, enjoying warm juice, or go for walk on the frozen sea. The icebreaker makes a pool free of ice and every visitor can take a swim in the dark icy water, in flotation survival suit. The captain will present Cruise and Swim Certificates to everyone as a memorable gift.
