Located 200km north of Arctic Circle, Kiruna is Sweden’s northernmost city. It keeps Sweden’s highest mountain Kebnekaise and has the world’s largest underground iron-ore mine. It’s location inside the Auroral oval is perfect for Northern Lights viewing. Kiruna is a part of Sápmi and has been home for many generations of Sámi people.

Arrival Day
Welcome to Swedish Lapland! On arrival to Kiruna Airport, you land 200km north from the Arctic Circle into the northernmost part of Sweden. A short transfer will bring you to the centrally located Elite Frost Kiruna, settle into your comfortable room and take in the wintry views that surround the city. The rest of the day is yours to enjoy at a relaxed pace. If the skies are clear, keep an eye out for a possible Northern Lights display shimmering above the rooftops.
Day 2 – Dogsledding & Rooftop Spa
Start your day with a classic Arctic adventure: a dogsledding tour throughout Kiruna’s winter wilderness. Wrapped in warm overalls and boots, you’ll sit comfortably on a wooden sled, pulled by a team of energetic huskies and a professional musher. Gliding silently across frozen landscapes you will be amazed by the beauty of nature. In the evening, head up to the rooftop Vana Spa, where you can relax in warm pools and saunas while surrounded by snowy scenery.
Day 3 – Chrismas Eve at Icehotel
The morning is yours to discover Kiruna at your own pace. In the afternoon, you will celebrate Christmas Eve at the world- famous Icehotel in Jukkasjärvi. Explore the breathtaking ice art, walk through the beautifully sculpted art suites, and enjoy a drink served in a glass made of ice at the Icebar. Santa arrives outside the Icehotel, bringing joy to children of all ages with gifts, photos, and festive cheer. It’s a truly magical experience that captures the wonder of Christmas in a setting unlike any other. In the evening, you may enjoy a Nordic-inspired Christmas Eve dinner or choose an optional Aurora hunting tour to complete your holiday celebration.
Day 4 – Northern Lights
Today is perfect for adding a final touch of adventure to your holiday. The morning and afternoon are left open for optional activities such as snowmobiling, Sami culture, or trying your hand at ice fishing. In the evening, you’ll head out on a Northern Lights tour by minibus. You’ll travel beyond the city lights to some of the region’s best aurora viewing spots, guided by experts who know where the skies are clearest. If conditions are right, you’ll witness the spectacular dance of the aurora borealis in all its glory.
Day 5 – Departure Day
As you wrap up your daily adventures, you’ll soon be departing from this breathtaking region of Swedish Lapland. Depending on your flight schedule, you might have some extra time to unwind or fit in another iconic experience in Kiruna. If your flight is early, it’s time to pack up and check out of your hotel room. We’ll arrange a convenient transfer to Kiruna Airport to ensure a smooth departure.
