Arrival Day

Welcome to Swedish Lapland! On arrival to Kiruna Airport, you land 150km north from the Arctic Circle into the northernmost part of Sweden. A short transfer will bring you to the family owned hotel Camp Ripan, close to the heart of Kiruna city. You will stay in a cosy private timber chalet. After check in, you may want to refresh yourself in the hotel’s rewarded Aurora Spa. Here you can wander between heat and cold, soothing water and crystalline snow. Relax indoors and enjoy the winter white landscape through panorama windows or feel the cool caress of the polar winter across your cheek while enveloped by the comfort of the outdoor warm pool. If you are lucky, the colourful dance of the Northern Lights will entertain you!

Day 2 –  Northern Lights photo tour

In the morning you are free to choose from several activities to explore the Kiruna area. From hiking or fishing in Autumn to Snowmobile or Dogsledding Safari in Winter. If you are interested in the city transformation of Kiruna, you can also join a city tour or the LKAB guided tour to the world’s largest underground iron-ore mine.

During the evening you will go on a Northern Lights Photo Tour in the dark Arctic night. Equipped with camera, headlamp and tripod, you learn about the Arctic nature and how to handle the camera in order to bring memories back from the magical Northern Lights. Based on the weather and aurora forecast, the guide will choose the best viewing location of the night. Whether you are a photography beginner or more experienced, the guide will help with the camera setting, and show you how to capture the Northern Light.

Day 3 – Visit to ICEHOTEL and Northern Lights tour by Car

Today you will join a guided tour to the ICEHOTEL and the Sami village Jukkasjärvi. Your guide will meet you by the hotel lobby and a short transfer brings you to Jukkasjärvi where the world’s first ICEHOTEL locates. Here you will have free time to explore the ICEHOTEL Art Exhibition where you can see the fantastic sculptures and the ice rooms in peace on your own. The day continues to the oldest church in Northernmost Sweden, dating back to 1607. In the Sami open museum, you will meet and feed reindeers, learn more about Sami culture and taste some Sami food before heading back to the hotel.

In the evening you will go for another hunt for the magical northern lights – this time by car. Your guide will check where the best possibilities are to see the northern lights within 125km around Kiruna. With a minivan you will be taken to hunt Aurora Borealis in Abisko, Björkliden, Jukkasjärvi or Gällivare. This is the perfect tour to maximize your chances of seeing this stunning natural phenomenon of northern lights.

Day 4 – Departure Day

After daily having new experiences it’s time to travel home. Depending on your flight schedule, maybe you have some time left to take another iconic tour in Kiruna before heading home.
